12/10/2002 - Front end 98% complete. Present day race shocks will be on the car most of the time since the car will see a lot of track time. A "period correct" set is being built for when the car is "shown". This Carrera set will be flipped back to body down which was more common in 1983.

Same day - just a view from above...
(Blue anodized brake fitting (top left) will be plated to match the other non-anodized brake fittings).

Some of the stainless steel brake lines had to be replaced. Here we are bending a new section of brake line for the rear.

Closer view. The blue anodized brake fitting (top left) will be plated to match the other non-anodized brake fittings.

View of the rear. Rear aluminum shock mounts were reproduced in-house and are available for sale. Due to the condition and location of some of these parts the decision was made to go ahead and chrome these as they were originally. Note the removable frame sections to pull out rear. On the floor are original style nerf bars made for us by Edmunds AutoResearch. Rear which is being rebuilt is under car.

Heating up the drive shaft center section to remove and replace bearing. (Not an inexpensive bearing). While most equipment is being restored to keep as much original equipment as possible - bearing, bolts etc. are all being replaced so that mechanically the car will be like new.

Part now installed, (awaiting engine & rear). Steering is in. Pedals being installed. Fuel filter in.

A wider view...
